After much anticipation since last year, Nothing confirms the launch of their first-ever smartphone via ‘Truth’ virtual event. Even the naming scheme of the smartphone is completely in line with the company.
This time around, Carl Pei is calling the smartphone Nothing Phone (1), just like their previously launched ear (1). Furthermore, the company CEO also revealed new details on the smartphone. Here’s everything you can expect out of Nothing Phone (1).
Everything Nothing Phone (1) has to Offer
Supposedly the Nothing Phone (1) is going to be powered by a Snapdragon SoC. Although the exact chipset is currently unknown, Nothing is certainly collaborating with Qualcomm. One aspect we are evident is that Nothing Phone (1) will be running the Nothing OS.
Basically a skin on top of Android. But Nothing insists that it would be a clean Android experience, with 40% fewer pre-installed apps. Predominantly Nothing OS is going to mimic the pure Android Pixel experience. Something OxygenOS was hailed for prior to its merger with Oppo and sharing the same codebase with ColorOS.

According to their official blog, Nothing strives to deliver a fast, smooth, and personal experience. Offering a coherent interface, with seamless integration between the hardware and software.
Nothing suggests that it can deliver smooth connection among Nothing products and third-party ones such as Apple AirPods. Nothing Phone (1) promises to deliver 3 years of Android upgrade and 4 years of security patches.
The company is going to give us a preview of Nothing OS via a standalone launcher in April. As for the overall design language, it is going to share the same footprint as that of Nothing ear (1). You can expect the same transparent background.
Here’s the teaser on the placement of hardware components on the smartphone. Along with the camera positioning, what seems like a wireless charging coil. We can speculate the Nothing Phone (1) to support Apple’s MagSafe as well.
As Carl Pei insisted that Nothing is going to build an open ecosystem, as compared to Apple’s closed garden, and other Android peers. So, it is evident that Nothing Phone (1) at least some Apple accessories in one way or another.
