The Indian player Micromax has launched a new smartphone Micromax Canvas 2 Plus after a long time. If we recall, the Micromax had launched the first generation Canvas 2 A110 a way back in 2012. This phone again came into existence as Micromax Canvas 2 in May 2017. Now once again, Micromax has launched a new player in this canvas line-up. Micromax Canvas Plus 2 comes with an 18:9 display and Face Unlock feature. The phone looks like a camera-centric budget segment phone.

With 18:9 display, the company tried to follow the running trend in the smartphone market. The display has 450 nits of brightness which will make your screen look brighter in the indoor as well as the outdoor environment.
Talking about the hardware of the phone, Micromax Canvas 2 Plus has a 1.3GHz quad-core processor which is coupled with 3GB of DDR3 RAM. Micromax has provided 32GB of inbuilt storage which can be expanded via microSD card.
Micromax has focused too much on the camera this time. The smartphone comes with a 13-Megapixels camera sensor on the rear with an LED flash and 80-degree wide-angle lens. The camera supports features such as Beauty mode, Time Lapse, and Watermark. The Canvas 2 Plus also has an 8-Megapixels front camera which supports Portrait mode and Beauty mode. Micromax Canvas 2 Plus runs on Android Nougat and comes pre-loaded with 22 Indian regional languages. In terms of connectivity, the handset has 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS/ A-GPS, and FM radio. The additional features include Facial Unlock and Fingerprint sensor.

We should appreciate Micromax’s decision of coming back into the smartphone market. But if we compare Micromax Canvas 2 Plus with other phones available at this price range, it can’t withstand the competition in terms of a processor. There are many budget smartphones like recently launched Xiaomi Redmi Y2 or Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 or Moto G5, etc who comes with Qualcomm’s SOCs at this price range. So, you should only buy this phone if you need a camera smartphone with facial unlock feature in urgent and you can’t wait till the arrival of the new phone.
