Following the trend, both OnePlus 6 and Honor 10 comes with a notch like iPhone X. However, OnePlus 6 is the company’s first smartphone to come with a notch but do you actually care about the notch? Anyway, OnePlus 6 and Honor 10 are made up an of Aluminium frame body with glass on both the sides which make them look even more premium.

In OnePlus 6, the vertical dual rear cameras are moved to the centre just above the fingerprint sensor. it sports a 6.28-inches Optic AMOLED Full HD+ (1080 x 2280 pixels) display with 19:9 aspect ratio and 402 PPI. This is the biggest display OnePlus phones have ever had. The screen-to-body ratio is 83.8 percent which also adds an extra quotient to the look of the phone.

Talking about the Honor 10, it also has a notch on the front but the main highlight of Honor 10 is its back panel. Huawei has used a curved glass on the back of this phone. The back panel is designed in such a way that it bends light and changes the colour. According to Huawei, they have used 15 layers of 3D glass panels to create an aurora-like effect.

The Honor 10 sports a smaller 5.84-inches IPS LCD Full HD+ (1080 x 2280 pixels) display with 19:9 aspect ratio and 432 PPI. The screen-to-body ratio is 79.9 percent which is similar to OnePlus 6. Except for the sizes, the Optic AMOLED display of OnePlus seems more promising as it can give you far better gaming experience. The Optic Amoled displays usually come with faster refresh rate. Honor 10 may offer more PPI count but it wouldn’t be so noticeable when compared to OnePlus 6.

Hardware:

OnePlus 6 and Honor 10 are packed with powerful hardware as far as possible. OnePlus 6 is packed with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 845 processor which can provide clock speed up to 2.8GHz. It’s an octa-core processor whose 4 cores are based on Qualcomm’s own Kyro 385 Gold Architecture and another 4 cores are based on Kyro-385 Silver. For those who are unaware, Kyro is a series of chip architectures owned by Qualcomm.

According to XDA Developers, Kyro 385 provides 30% better performance than its predecessors. The Snapdragon 845 is integrated with Adreno 630 GPU.  It is also known to provide amazing performance while playing games or watching videos without wasting the battery too much.  The processor is coupled with 6/8 GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 64/128/256 GB of inbuilt storage.

On the other hand, Huawei Honor 10 is packed with company’s own HiSilicon 970 chipset. It can provide clock speed up to 2.4 GHz. It is also an octa-core processor whose four cores are built on Cortex-A73 while the other four are on Cortex-A53 architecture. Kirin 970 is integrated with Mali G72-MP12 GPU which is the latest GPU from Mali till now. The processor is coupled with 4/6GB of RAM and 64/128GB of inbuilt storage.

Finally, both the phones offer great hardware and so you can expect flawless performance from these phones. According to Android Authority, Snapdragon 845 and Kirin 970 are almost similar in their design and features. Coming to the camera department, OnePlus 6 features dual rear cameras with a 12-Megapixel Sony IMX519 sensor and a 20-Megapixel Sony IM376K sensor. The 12MP sensor has an aperture of f/1.7 with 1.22µm sized bigger pixels. It also has Gyro-EIS (Electronic Image Stabilization) and OIS (Optical Image Stabilization). Talking about the 20MP secondary sensor, it also has an aperture of f/1.7 and comes with PDAF (Phase detection Auto-Focus) support. For Selfies, OnePlus 6 also has a 20-Megapixel front camera with f/2.0 aperture, Gyro-EIS and Auto HDR.

On the other hand, Honor 10 also comes with dual rear cameras at the rear. The primary sensor is of 16-Megapixel with an aperture of f/1.8 while the secondary sensor is actually a Monochrome (Black and White) sensor of 24 Megapixel. Honor 10 also comes with PDAF which enhances your photos automatically. For selfies, it has a 24-Megapixel front camera with an aperture of f/2.0. The rear camera supports bokeh mode and 2X optical zoom. You can also capture portrait selfies using the front camera.

Looking at the cameras, one can easily tell that people will love both the phones in the camera department. But there are some advantages in OnePlus 6. It can shoot super slow-mo videos of 2160p at 30/60fps, 1080p at 30/60/240fps and 720p at 480fps. While another player can only shoot videos of 2160p and 1080p at 30fps,  Also, OnePlus 6 comes with Dual-tone LED flash at the rear whereas you will only get normal LED flash in Honor 10.

Battery and Other Features:

OnePlus 6 runs an Android 8.1 Oreo-based Oxygen OS 5.1 which is nearly stock Android. OnePlus has also guaranteed Android P update soon. It houses 3,300 mAH battery with 5V 4A 20W Dash Charging support. Keeping phone’s security in mind, OnePlus has given Face unlock and fingerprint support to its latest flagship. The company claims that the Face unlock only takes 0.4 seconds and fingerprint sensor unlocks in 0.2 seconds.

On the other hand, Honor 10 runs an Android 8.1 Oreo-based EMUI 8.1 which is more cluttered than Oxygen OS of OnePlus 6. It houses a 3400 mAH battery which also supports 5V/4.5A Honor supercharging. Using this technology, the phone can be charged up to 50 percent in just 24 minutes.  Honor 10 comes with an under display ultrasonic fingerprint sensor which works even with oily or greasy fingers.

Price and Availability:

OnePlus 6 and Honor 10 both comes at a very competitive price. The OnePlus now starts at Rs 34,999 for the 6GB RAM and 64GB internal storage variant and Rs 39,999 for the 8GB RAM and 128GB internal storage. The phone is available in three awesome colour variants – Midnight Black, Silk White, and Mirror Black. There is also one Marvel Avengers Limited Edition variant with an 8GB RAM and 256 GB storage priced at Rs 44,999.

The smartphone will be available on May 21 via Early access sale for Amazon Prime customers. There will be also an open sale on May 22 for non-prime customers. It will be also available at some pop-up stores in 8 cities in India on 21st & 22nd May.

Coming to the price of Honor 10, Huawei has played quite well. The Honor 10 is available at Rs 32,999 (6GB/128GB) giving a tough competition to OnePlus 6.  It is available in two colour options – Phantom Blue and Midnight Black. The Honor 10 is available exclusively on Flipkart.

OnePlus 6 vs Honor 10 – Verdict:

OnePlus 6 and Honor 10 are setting new standards by launching flagship phones at medium price range category. The OnePlus 6 might have launched a little bit costlier but it definitely has an edge over Honor 10. OnePlus 6 comes with bigger brilliant AMOLED display, Qualcomm’s latest chipset and improved cameras. On the other hand, Honor 10 is offering similar specs at a quite low price. So, you should take your budget into consideration and decide accordingly.
